Working closely with artists, designers, animators, and programmers, the FX Artist is responsible for creating visually stunning
in-game effects for environments, combat, and characters. From smoke, fire, water, lighting, to blood and destruction, the FX
Artist must strike a strong balance between technology and art to capture diverse aesthetic looks to a high degree of quality,
while carefully managing performance in a game environment.
Successful candidates should have a strong aesthetic eye for breaking down the key rendering components of various effects, as
well as solid technical and problem solving skills to work with programmers to R&D advanced rendering solutions
within our proprietary engine (such as fluids, volumetrics, etc) .
+ Prototype and pitch creative and engine-efficient art solutions to complex effects)
+ Work with artists, animators, and programmers to implement a diverse range of atmospheric and combat fx
+ Work closely with graphics programmers to direct the creation of new effects systems and tools
+ Responsible for fx look development tests in pre-production
+ Responsible for final finishing on in-game and cinematic fx in full production
+ At least two years of applicable industry experience
+ Fluent knowledge of at least one major 3D package (Max, Maya)
+ Knowledge of high end pre-rendered fx techniques (fluids, volumetrics, etc)
+ Experience with Photoshop or comparable program
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Passion for and broad knowledge of games and game development, with an ability to critically analyze them
+ Strong texturing painting skills
+ Any scripting and programming skills
+ Compositing / post experience (Premiere, After Effects, Combustion, etc)
